Once again, the River of Light will light up the city to bring some international and national galleries and performances. From the 21st of October to the 6th of November, from 5PM until 9PM, the River of Light will illuminate the waterfront for 17 days from Friday 21st October to Sunday 6th November, showcasing 10 works by various local, national and international artists along its 2km route.

This free event is taking place at the Liverpool Waterfront. This year’s theme is an Unexpected Twist, a small reference to the World Gymnastics Championships 2022 which will be taking place at the city at the same time.

Another order visitors are looking forward to this year is Canning Dock's BEAM. Lucid Creates' artwork transports visitors to a hot summer's day with a ray of light before peace and warmth turn to anxiety and tension.

The Evansecent is another art piece that will be taking place at the event: a series of giant bubbles will appear in exchange flags, courtesy of Australian artist Atelier Sisu. Immersive sound and light structures respond to visitors as they explore the

artwork, depicting the ephemeral nature of human existence. It has already been screened in Taiwan, the United States, Greece, Australia, etc.

Last November's River of Lights event was the city's most successful yet, with approximately 150,000 visitors enjoying the festival and increasing patronage of the city's shops and restaurants. The Liverpool BID Company recorded 1.5 million visitors in October 2021, the highest number of visitors since the start of the pandemic.
